Custom Line Source 9
(CLS-9)
Response Audio is producing the external crossovers for the CLS-9. The sonic
signature of the crossover is influenced by the use of some of the most
highly regarded passive components currently available in the industry. The
use of Mundorf Silver/Gold and high quality reference Teflon capacitors, Mundorf
and Goertz foil inductors and Mills non-inductive resistors is just part of
what makes up this very special crossover network.
Each
crossover employs the circuit design topology created by designer Danny
Richie of GR Research, and employs components that are matched to
tolerances within 1% or better. Our crossovers are point to point wired
ensuring the simplest and least intrusive signal path. A custom external
crossover enclosure houses the crossover and resides between the speaker and
amplifier in the circuit path. The link between the crossover and speakers
is made via four custom umbilical cords utilizing the patented JPS Labs
Alumiloy wire and connection to the speaker and crossovers utilizes
professional grade speak-on connectors. Bybee purifiers in this link are
available as an additional option.
The passive bass management is handled by a series of
switches accessible by the user allowing you to tailor the bass output curve
to your specific room in real time.
Each crossover is inserted into a CLS-9 test system and auditioned at
Response Audio prior to shipment.
The CLS-9 speaker system is internally wired with the
patented JPS Labs AlumiloyTM solid core wiring.

What people are saying about the
CLS-9
Here is the bottom line, these speakers are just plain enjoyable
to listen to, they do just about everything as right as I could want or
imagine. I find myself thinking of them as exciting, dynamic, detailed,
lush, natural and musical. In short they just sound right. At the price
these are selling at, if you’re in the market, not auditioning them
could lead to some major regrets later on. I’m putting my money where
my mouth is and placing an order for myself.

The CLS9 is a totally different in presentation, the visual size of
the CLS9s is insignificant compared to the auditory scale of the
presentation. If you can envision a Imax screen of at least 15' H * 25' wide
with its curved aspect that is as close as I can describe the scale of the
auditory presentation of the CLS9s- Positively tremedous, a different animal
towering above and beyond the size of the speakers. The walls and boundaries
are totally obliterated- World Class!
You might not think you need the extra capabilities at the extremes or the
huge radiating area of the planar array until you experience the dynamic
swings the LSs can do. Even at normal listening levels the increase in
microdynamics and eyeblinking cymbal shots are uncanny and an experience
even long time listeners can't fathom. Everything comes out of the blackness
with an ease an effortlessness. Everything is rich and 3D, bigger than I
even thought possible. You owe it to yourself to audition these any way you
can. The value for this unique perspective and performance is unmatched. I
have not heard anything that does the things the CLS9s do. Well thats all I
can say.
