Audio Note Custom
DAC 3.1 TC Reference MBX
Transformer coupled balanced input and output digital - analog converter with full dual mono external power supply, upgraded transformers throughout and custom Waterfall Bubinga enclosures

Here is a picture of an Audio Note Custom DAC 3.1 TC Reference MBX and an Audio Note Custom Ultimate L3 Balanced preamplifier with full dual mono external power supply, remote control and balanced inputs and outputs. The chassis' are constructed of 3/4" solid Bubinga hardwood and then veneered with a beautiful Waterfall Bubinga real wood veneer. Shown throughout this page are the details and pictures of the DAC 3.1 TC Reference. A dedicated page for the Ultimate L3 Balanced preamp will be coming soon.

These two pictures shows only part of a fully customized system. The stack on the left is an Ultimate M3 preamplifier while the stack on the right is DAC 3.1 TC Reference. The preamplifier is fully remote controlled with no front mounted controls for a clean look. This customer requested balanced inputs and outputs. Also to go along with the clean look, the chassis top has no cooling vents. To address heat build-up with the power supply chassis, custom quiet running cooling fans have been installed in both the preamp and DAC power supplies. Both the DAC and preamp use Audio Note Hi-B output transformers with the DAC also sporting balanced outputs.

Here we show the BMX external dual mono power supply. Shown in this picture is the bank of Mundorf M-TubeCap filter capacitors. One each of the power supply boards, you can see the use of VH Audio V-Cap TFTF )Teflon) capacitors. Between these boards are the chokes. The smaller board seen between the mains transformers is the power supply for the digital board located in the main circuit chassis. This board uses top quality diodes and  Elna Cerafine capacitors. Also incorporated into this power supply is a cooling fan that also runs off it's own DC power supply including a separate transformer as not to interfere at all with the circuits' power supplies.

Here's where more of the magic is located. The analog tube board is made up of various resistors chosen for their application. Elna Cerifine capacitors can also be seen on this board. Underneath is the VH Audio TFTF coupling capacitors.

The output transformers have been upgraded to the Audio Note Hi-B transformers and are running in high quality balanced XLR connectors.

Around back you can see the umbilical cords that are used to connect the power supply chassis to the main circuit chassis. There are two cords used for this as the digital board receives it's own connector cord.

What you cannot see very well in these pictures is the EIC connector and fuse holder which are both Silver and Cryogenic Treated
