Vinyl playback is continuing to grow in popularity. What was the most popular format in the 60's and 70's had made an extraordinary comeback over the past decade. One listening session with a quality vinyl playback system and you too will wonder why you did not make the transition sooner. The reason is simple....... vinyl simply touches the soul.

The Musica Bella Phono is a stand alone moving magnet phono stage that has been designed to provide exceptional detail, resolution and speed to vinyl enthusiast.

Two years of R&D and countless hours of listening have been devoted to a high end phono stage that would fill the void in the Musica Bella line. The Bella Phono is a product that was derived in the mist of our research so we decided to offer a limited number of these units for you to enjoy at a lower price point. The Musica Bella “Bella Phono” is suitable for all Moving Magnet and high output Moving Coil cartridges. It boosts and equalizes the cartridge signal to Line-Level, which makes it suitable for use with integrated amplifiers and active and passive.

Design Details

Power Supply:

The Reference Bella Phono is based around a high quality solid state power supply which contains a host of high quality capacitors. High quality metallized polypropylene capacitors are used for the main filter capacitors, Ultra Fast - Soft Recovery diodes are used as well as independent transformers for the B+ and filament supplies.

Phono Circuit:

The phono circuit is a zero feedback, perfect RIAA curve using a 12AX7 input and 12AU7 output tubes providing plenty of gain for all MM and high output MC phono cartridges.

The phono circuit is comprised of SoniCap Gen II coupling capacitors, Elna Cerafine cathode bypass capacitors and various Dale/Vishay 1% resistors which we match to .50% before installing into the circuit.  The entire circuit is 100% point-to-point wired.

Chassis:

The chassis can be custom built to your preferences. Many custom chassis designs available. Stay tuned for more examples. Standard design uses a high quality steel sub chassis with a Baltic Birch outer shell veneered in only real wood veneers. For veneer options, please check our VENEER PAGE

Such is the value of a good phono stage.  And the Bella is truly beautiful.   
There are many phono stages out there, and I have heard many.  I have come to be a bit cynical about whether there is a need for so many different version of the same function.  But I have been convinced that the Bella has earned its place, and brings more music to my ears.  I strongly recommend a listen.  If you are part of the road trip - congratulations!  I think you will have an interesting experience with this unit.  Bill, you have created a phono stage that finds the music and carries it very well, to the rest of my system and me.  Congratulations are especially in order for you!

This has been a pleasant week watching the Bella phono pre-amp adjust to my system and open up.  After settling in my system, I must re-confirm billc’s observations in his review of unit 1.  Unit two like unit one can be summed as having, “Clarity, balance, speed/dynamics, and ability to unravel complex passages”.  I found that my amps and/or pre-amps were a good match in gain with the Bella.
